Hydrant Servicing at a Holiday Park

Hydrant test at a holiday park near Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire

We were asked to service and test a seized Hydrant at a Holiday park on the East coast of the UK last week. It was a challenging test as the area had flooded from some recent heavy rain.

Anyway, success. After a little bit of ‘feeling about’ we connected the standpipe and flow meter and ran the test. We advised the property owner to look into the drainage of the area as a matter of urgency.

The Humberston Fitties are a colony of about 300 chalets, huts, and cabins on former salt marshes (“fitties”) on the Lincolnshire coast near Cleethorpes. The site began after the First World War and has been declared a Conservation Area.
